Constitutional Declaration of NKSU

 

The current Constitutional Declaration of the Nordic Conservative Student Union was adopted unanimously at the Annual Meeting in Lund, Sweden, July 12, 2009.

 

Nordic Conservative Student Union (NKSU) - Constitutional declaration

 

Article 1 Organisation

1. Nordic Conservative Student Union, hereinafter NKSU, is a political organisation operating in and out of North Europe. Activities of NKSU are not tied to any specific political party.

 

2. NKSU believes in centre right ideals and supports policies based on these ideals. Its members may refer to themselves as Conservative, Liberal or Christian democrat while they agree with aims and policies declared in this constitution and the statutes of the organisation.

 

3. NKSU aims to further co-operation between its members and co-operates with other like-minded international student and youth organizations.

 

Article 2 Ideals and values

4. NKSU believes in the individual as the basis of society. Freedom of individuals and responsibility of individuals are core values for NKSU

 

5. NKSU believes in democracy as the only viable and legitimate way to govern a state and lower level public entities.

 

6. NKSU believes in responsible free market economy as the only viable basis for sustained development of society, common well-being and common wealth.

 

7. NKSU believes in tolerance. Nobody should face discrimination based on gender, age, sexuality, ethnicity, religion or beliefs.

 

8. NKSU believes in equality of opportunities. Everyone regardless of background should have equal possibilities to get education from basic schools to higher education.

 

9. NKSU believes that a successful society needs high quality of education and culture. NKSU believe that people striving for these aims become active and successful citizens.

 

10. NKSU believes in the value of work. All forms of labouring should be encouraged and rewarded.

 

Article 3 Policies

11. NKSU believes European co-operation is a key to create both politically and economically more secure and stable society for all Europeans. NKSU supports policies that aim to further European co-operation on all levels both inside and outside the EU.

 

12. NKSU supports policies that aim to further quality and availability of higher education both locally and globally. NKSU supports policies that aim to make national higher education systems more compatible with each other.

 

13. NKSU supports policies that aim to further human rights and freedom of individuals both locally and globally.

 

14. NKSU supports policies that aim to reduce government control over economy but do not threaten government’s capability to act over economy in face of dire national need.

 

15. NKSU supports policies that aim to create systems for social security that seek to provide sufficient help for those in need based on responsible consideration and encourage individuals to actively work their way out of bad times.

 

16. NKSU supports policies that aim to reduce unnecessary administrative bureaucracy and increase administrative efficiency.
